If you decide to join there are 2 options. You can use the button on the right of this page to access the Membership Application Form, which you can then print, complete and post. Alternatively you can join at a Monthly General meeting. Subsequent annual renewals are managed by email.

The Membership Year for Durham & District u3a is 1st April to 31st March. However, if you join between 1st January and 31st March, your membership lasts until 31st March of the following year, giving you up to 15 months for your subscription.

Due to the healthy financial position of our u3a, the annual subscription for 2026/27 has been reduced from £11 to £5 for both new joiners and existing members. This will be reviewed on an annual basis.

The charge to attend group meetings is normally about £2 per visit, to cover costs such as room hire . Some groups, such as Wine Tasting, may cost more and some, which don’t need to pay for a venue, are free.

Monthly General meeting are held on the last Thursday of the month at Bowburn Community Centre (use the Events link above to see more information about the venue and the topics). The doors open at 1:15 and the formal event normally starts at 2:00, so there is time to look at Group notices and talk to any Group leaders who are present. Currently these are free, but a £2 charge will be re-instated from January 2027.
